Glucosamine is found in cartilage and connective tissue. It can be synthesized by the human body, but with age, we have to complement glucosamine synthesis through diet instead. Thus glucosamine is a common ingredient in supplements that are designed to benefit cartilage and joint health. Glucosamine is made from the shell of shellfish (for example: shrimp, crab). The resource goes through a drying process, deproteinization and demineralization to get Chitin. Through deacetylation, chitosan is won, which is converted through depolymerization into glucosamine. In addition to that, a glucasamine based on shellfish and a vegan option made from fermented corn starch is also available.
